Deep linking or internal linking seems to be a good way to make your web site/blog more balanced in the material that gets read and that gets indexed by the search engines. What you want to do is create a web of links within your own site; sort of like the way the Internet works (the World Wide Web). Here are some ways to deep link:
- Create a custom error page for 404 errors and put links on that page. I have not done this yet, but it makes sense…and I’ve seen it elsewhere. Even in error, your users get something useful.
- Group your best posts of the week or month together and post a summary at the end of that time period. You might even do one for the end of the year.
- Including links in the footer is also another great way to connect the various pieces of your site. I’ll have to do that one too.
- Start a series of posts (part 1, part 2, etc.). Link them together, and don’t forget to post ALL of the parts.
- Create an FAQ for your site.
