3 Reasons To Blog Regularly

Web Site Promotion For The Small Business v2
October 28, 2007

In order to promote your site, you should blog on a regular basis. In a previous posting, I mentioned opening several blogging accounts. In this extention of that idea, pick one of the blogging accounts and share your expertise on one particular subject related to your business. An example might be Web Site Promotion For The Small Business. With this blog, I am sharing my knowledge concerning site promotion. Now for the three reasons:

  1. You are building an audience that is interested in your subject matter. Some people with either go to a web site on a regular basis, if they are getting something from it or they will subscribe to that site's RSS feed. You want to give you readers something every day.
  2. The new content will be picked up by the search engines, therefore, giving your blog a higher ranking.
  3. In the eyes of your loyal readers, you become an expert on the subject…and they will remember who you are. This way, when they end up going to your business web site, they will already be familiar with the quality they will receive from you.

Pick your subject wisely. I chose web site promotion as my subject because I have 21+ years in the IT industry (12 of which are in web development) and I have had to promote many sites throughout my career. I found out what worked and what didn't work and am now sharing that information with you. Pass it on.

One of your posts is broken. http://blogs.johnasimpson.com/post/2007/12/3-Reasons-Why-You-Should-PrePost-Your-Blog-Entries.aspx generates an ASP error, a stack trace a couple pages long. You might want to clean that up; I was going to forward this link to a couple of friends at my last job, but it’s hard to take a web developer seriously when his website is broken. (And might I suggest you change the ASP settings to hide errors or display a sane page? No reason to show your code to the world via stack traces.)
